Honor to Announce the Honor V10 in China on November 28

For the past few years, the schedule has been set for the staged roll-out of high-end Huawei flagship smartphones followed by affordable flagships released by the company’s Honor sub-brand. For example, the Honor 8 was released after the Huawei P9, and the Honor 8 Pro as well as the Honor 9 were released after the Huawei Mate 9 and the Huawei P10 respectively. In October, Huawei announced the Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro. Therefore, it was certain that an affordable flagship launch by Honor couldn’t be far away.

As expected, Honor did schedule an event to launch the next Honor flagship in London on December 5. Honor phones are typically announced in China first, but the company had not announced the date for its China unveiling up till now. Honor has now confirmed via an official teaser on its Weibo account that it will announce the Honor V10 flagship on November 28 in China, a week before the London event.

Honor V10 Teaser China

The Honor V10 teaser shows us that the two major features on the device will be AI (via the Kirin 970’s dedicated hardware) and dual rear cameras. The invitation for the London event had already shown that the device will have a full-screen design with small bezels. There have been speculations that the V10 will be a cheaper edition of the Mate 10 Pro.

Like the Mate 10 Pro, the Honor V10 is expected to have a 6-inch, 18:9 aspect ratio display. The Honor V10 may arrive in 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variants. Honor CEO Mr. Zhao Ming has already confirmed that the Honor V10 will feature the Kirin 970 SoC, which has its own Neural Processing Unit (NPU). The Kirin 970 uses ARM’s newest Mali-G72 GPU.

The V10 will be powered by Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top. It is expected to have support for 22.5W fast charging. As for its pricing, it is expected to be around CNY 3,000 (~$450). We expect to know the full story of the device at its launch event in China.
