Oreo-based AOSPA Build Released for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T

The folks at Paranoid Android are fans of the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T, if their most recent project is any indication. On Monday, Team AOSPA released an early port of Android 8.0 Oreo-based Paranoid Android for the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T. A lot of the most popular AOSPA features have yet to be implemented, but it’s almost fully functional.

Right now, intrepid OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T owners who install the new build can expect the AOSPA camera application, plus working RIL, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, camera, audio, fingerprint, sensors, GPS. But a lot of things aren’t functional at the moment, including the notification slider, touch gestures, and SELinux (which is set to permissive in this build). And with the exception of the kernel sources, which will be available “soon,” the team’s keeping the device tree private until the ROM reaches a stable state.

If none of that intimidates you, you can download the new ROM from the OnePlus Forums.

When Google releases the source code for a new version of Android, it’s not uncommon to come across a bunch of build requests from the community. We’ve written about a number of efforts to port custom Android 8.0 Oreo-based ROMs to older devices, and it’s great to see Paranoid Android blazing trails.
