[Discussion] What are your thoughts on the OnePlus 5T?

It’s been a day after OnePlus officially unveiled its next flagship smartphone: the OnePlus 5T. The phone packs quite the punch in terms of hardware. In terms of raw specifications, it doesn’t offer many improvements over the OnePlus 5. Although the display has been bumped to a 6.01″ 18:9 panel and with the removal of the capacitive buttons, the device has now has a higher screen-to-body ratio than its predecessor.

There haven’t been too many notable changes on the software end either, as OnePlus has taken a more conservative approach with regards to adding new software features in OxygenOS. The company did add a fingerprint gesture to pull down the notification shade or take a picture, an enhanced Face Unlock feature, and some navigation bar tweaks such as the ability to hide the bar with a button.

While it may not seem like a major upgrade over the OnePlus 5, it certainly has a lot to offer over the previous generation OnePlus 3/3T. Furthermore, for those remaining Google Nexus holdouts who are looking to upgrade without breaking the bank, the OnePlus 5T is a solid choice that fixes some problems with its predecessor.

For a starting price of $499, the phone undercuts the likes of the Google Pixel 2 without many compromises. Though it launches with Android 7.1 Nougat on board, OnePlus has promised an Android Oreo beta update by this December and a full OTA in early 2018. But custom development is looking promising given the prompt kernel source release and the rapid availability of TWRP.

With that, we would like to ask you, our readers:

What are your thoughts on the OnePlus 5T? Did it live up to your expectations? Do you feel that the phone is worth its price? What feature(s) do you think OnePlus should have added?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and be sure to check out the newly opened OnePlus 5T forums!
