Droidcon London — Tickets Now Available and Call For Papers Deadline Extended

Doidcon UK is returning to the Business Design Centre in London this October. If you want to mingle with the best and brightest in the world of Android, listen to some great talks and get hands-on with some of the latest gadgets, join us!

Speakers for this year’s event have started to be announced, imparting their knowledge at Droidcon this year are:
Image 140Droidcon bio: “Chris is an engineer working on the Android Support Libraries at Google, most notably AppCompat, Design lib and Palette. He has worked on Android things for over 6 years, from open source libraries to media apps, social networks, and most stuff in between.”

Support Library: Guts and Glory (coming soon) — AppCompat and the Design library are two great libraries which help you jump-start your Android app.

Droidcon bio: “Android developer for Square working on Square Cash. Has a long-time severe allergy to boilerplate code and for years has been raising awareness on the issue as well as leading efforts to eradicate this horrible disease that plagues modern developers.”

Advancing Development with the Kotlin Language — This talk will explore advancing the usage and design patterns of the language for Android development to solve larger problems.

Droidcon bio: “Nick is a Android Design/Developer Advocate in Google’s London office where he helps designers and developers to create sublime mobile apps.He has been making Android apps for over 5 years and has worked with hundreds of companies to help them to make the most of the platform. Nick is a frequent contributor to the official android developers blog, conference speaker, host of Google Developers shows (Android Design in Action, Android Office Hours, DevBytes), co-author of the ‘Android Design for Developers’ Udacity course and shares pro-tips on Google+ and Github. Nick has worked on Google apps such as Google I/O and Android Device Manager. Recently Nick has been focused on helping designers and developers to understand and create beautiful material design apps.”

Droidcon bio: “Chet is the lead of the Android UI Toolkit team at Google, where he works on animations, graphics, and performance. He also writes technical articles, writes and performs comedy, and gives presentations at developer conferences like Droidcon London 2015.”

Keynote – Android for Java Developers — learn how to use the language effectively and how to write better and more performant Android applications.

Managing Expectations: A Manager’s Guide for Managing to Manage Unmanageable Teams Manageably — Chet shares some of this advice out so that you can learn how to manage your teams.


Tickets and Taking Part

A great deal many more speakers are still to be announced but if you like what you see so far you can get early bird tickets with a major discount here and if you think you have what it takes to take to the stage and share your expertise then good news! The deadline for submitting papers has been extended until Friday the 15th of July and more categories have been added. Successful applicants will receive two free tickets to the conference.
