Rumor: Specs of the T-Mobile Self-Branded REVVL T1 Phone Leaks

Some wireless carriers feel they should have their own self-branded smartphone so they can sell it in stores. The reason behind this could be because of a higher profit margin, or maybe they just feel they can offer something their customers want more than the competition can. Whatever the case, we’ve seen this from Verizon Wireless with the Droid series (which was made by Motorola), and now there’s a rumor going around that T-Mobile will be doing this as well.

A couple of weeks ago, Android Authority said they received some marketing material that stated how T-Mobile will redefine how you pay for your device plan each month. At the time, they didn’t have much else to go on, and said it would be “a value-based proposition.” Their impression from the material they received was that T-Mobile would be offering a phone with the features of a $650 – $850 smartphone, but with a price tag that is much lower.

Yesterday, however, Android Authority received some additional information on this T-Mobile branded smartphone. It seems the name of this new smartphone series from T-Mobile will be called REVVL, and it will “offer premium specs without the premium price tag.” Along with this new information about the series name, we’re also told that there will be three different smartphones released: REVVL T1, REVVL T2, and the REVVL T3 PRO.

The REVVL T1 is said to be manufactured by Alcatel’s parent company TCL (the same company making phones under BlackBerry’s brand name now) and it will be a mid-range device. Android Authority‘s sources are telling them it will have a 5.5″ 1080p display with a fingerprint scanner, 3,000mAh capacity battery, 13MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera with a flash and the ability to capture wide-angle images. It should launch with Android 7.x Nougat, but it’s unclear if the UI will be heavily modified from stock Android or not.
