HTC Announces Promotions of Key Executives

HTC America Executive

HTC Corporation has announced the promotions of key executives today. First, Jason Mackenzie, who served as President of HTC Americas has been promoted to the position of global Executive Vice President.

Succeeding him as the President of HTC Americas is André Lönne, who served as Vice President of Sales of HTC America.

The promotions come as HTC seeks to expand its businesses beyond smartphones, into the world of virtual reality and IoT, two innovative opportunities with immense future potential.

In Mackenzie’s new role, he will report to the CEO directly and help build and lead new strategic partnerships while strengthening existing ones. “Jason Mackenzie is one of HTC’s strongest senior executives and it was important for us to promote our senior talent and take advantage of his leadership as HTC moves forward,” said Cher Wang, Chairman and CEO of HTC, in the press release.

Mackenzie was a founding member of HTC America, pushing the company forward to achieve many industry-firsts in America, like having the first 4G smartphone at every major US mobile operator (HTC Evo 4G for Sprint, HTC ThunderBolt for Verizon, HTC Vivid for AT&T and the HTC Desire Z aka T-Mobile G2 for T-Mobile). HTC America did have a good climb towards success and recognition under the leadership of Mackenzie.

André Lönne is also a known face amongst the HTC top brass, having held several leadership roles at HTC. This includes being the country manager of Germany, Vice President of sales for HTC EMEA and also of HTC America. His new position of President of Americas places him responsible for overseeing the company’s business operations across the United States, Canada and Latin America.

These promotions indicate that HTC is preparing itself for battling it out in 2016. Whether it be on the battlefront of VR, or whether it be regarding the next Nexus, or even with them producing The Flagship of 2016, there’s no denying that it will be a tough battle. We hope the promotions have their intended positive effect, just so that we can see more of HTC in 2017.
